23 Aug DOUBLE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FOR MARY SPENCER AGAINST FEMKE HERMANS
A few days ago, Eye of The Tiger confirmed that Mary Spencer would be the headliner for its October 11th event at the Montreal Casino, with the IBF super-welterweight world title at stake. In addition, the IBO belt currently held by her opponent, Femke Hermans, who won it from Spencer last December, will also be on the line. This will be the Belgian’s 3rd defense as she faces the Canadian.
In their first encounter in Shawinigan on December 16, 2022, Femke Hermans (16-4, 7 KOs) had the upper hand over her rival, securing the IBO title through a unanimous decision. The fight kept the audience on the edge of their seats, and the rematch promises to be equally intense as Mary Spencer (7-1, 5 KOs) is determined to leave the ring with both the IBO and IBF titles.
“I’m very excited to hear that the IBO has allowed the world title to be up for grabs again in the fight between Femke and me. Knowing that the title slipped through my fingers in December during my first world championship, being once again within reach adds great motivation and makes me even more determined to go for the win and bring the belts home,” mentions Mary Spencer.
The complete lineup for this event will be revealed in the coming weeks, but the Montreal promoter has already confirmed the presence of Erik Bazinyan (30-0, 21 KOs), Wilkens Mathieu (3-0, 2 KOs), Leïla Beaudoin (9-1, 1 KO), Mehmet Unal (4-0, 4 KOs), and Jhon Orobio (3-0, 3 KOs).
