15 Jan CANADIAN OLYMPIC MEDALIST WYATT SANFORD JOINS EYE OF THE TIGER
Eye of the Tiger is proud to announce the signing of a local talent with global recognition: Wyatt Sanford. Having become the first Canadian boxer to reach the Olympic podium since 1996, Sanford will now aim to make history once again in the professional ranks.
“By choosing EOTTM, I chose an organization that truly cares about its athletes’ well-being and will always have my best interests at heart. That’s not something you find everywhere in boxing, so for me, it was essential. I’m even happier because this allows me to stay home and fight in front of my own people,” said Wyatt Sanford, the bronze medalist from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“Even though Wyatt Sanford is a local athlete, it’s important to recognize that with his international results and spectacular style, he could have signed with any promoter. His decision to join EOTTM adds even more depth to our roster and reinforces our commitment to competing with the world’s top promoters on the international stage,” said Camille Estephan, President of Eye of the Tiger.
With an Olympic medal around his neck, Wyatt Sanford felt he had accomplished everything he could in the amateur ranks. In addition to his podium finish at the Paris Games (2024), he also competed at the Tokyo Olympics (2021). The pride of Kennetcook, Nova Scotia, also claimed gold at the Pan American Games in Santiago (2023), silver at the Continental Championships in Cali (2023), and bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham (2022). Ranked number one in Canada among senior boxers since 2017, Sanford has won four Canadian junior championships. Despite all these accolades, many believe the 26-year-old athlete’s style has always been perfectly suited for professional boxing, including his coach, Vincent Auclair.
“Wyatt has always been a physical boxer with great punching power and excellent distance control. In three-round fights, his best moments often come in the second and third rounds, which gives us an idea of what he can achieve in the professional ranks.”
With such an impressive track record, it was a no-brainer for EOTTM’s Director of Recruitment, Marc Ramsay, to offer the Canadian athlete a contract.
“We are beyond proud to have signed the first Canadian Olympic boxing medalist in over 28 years. Not only is Wyatt Sanford a recruit with immense potential, but he is also a local boxer who developed entirely within Canada’s amateur boxing system,” said Marc Ramsay.
The exact date of Wyatt Sanford’s professional debut will be announced by Eye of the Tiger in the coming weeks.
