Originally from the Capitale-Nationale region and a sportsman at heart, Wilkens Mathieu is a talented young boxer who started his career in combat sports with taekwondo. He quickly became interested in boxing, attracted by the different dynamics of the noble art. Thus, he took part in his first amateur fight at the age of 10. The right-hander could thus share a common passion with his 2 brothers, also boxers.
Continuing his way in the amateur ranks, Wilkens will know a brilliant evolution in the categories of 48kg, 54kg, 66kg and 75kg, and will be crowned 5 times champion of the golden gloves. He also performed successfully in the latter category where he won the Canadian championship title. Continuing his development, the young Quebecer will have the opportunity to fight internationally as an active member of the national team. He will be competing with the world’s elite boxers in Spain at the IBA Youth Men World Championships, in Germany at the Bradenburger Cup tournament where he won gold, and in Hungary at the Gergely Bornemissza Youth Tournament where he finished on the second step of the podium.
At the age of 18, with a record of (30-2, 4 K.-O.), Wilkens Mathieu decided to start his professional career with the promoter Eye of the Tiger. Determined to impress the fans, the young athlete will make his mark in February 2022 during his first fight at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal.
