Guided by his older brother, who wanted to keep him on the right path, Luis Santana first put on boxing gloves at the age of 13 at the Champion Boxing Club. From that moment on, the young Montrealer found his calling. A member of Canada’s junior and senior national teams from 2012 to 2019, he represented his country internationally on several occasions, including at the 2016 Junior World Championships in Russia and the Junior Continental Championships in Costa Rica. By the age of 22, the pride of Montreal’s Saint-Michel neighbourhood had amassed nearly 100 wins in 120 amateur bouts.
Became NABF lightweight champion by winning a spectacular local bout against Montrealer Chann Thonson.
Defeated hard-hitting Argentine fighter Sebastian Aguirre by unanimous decision in a bout voted Fight of the Night by the public.
Won the Canadian Amateur National Championships for the fourth time.
With that experience behind him, Santana was ready to turn professional. In 2020, he began this new chapter with Eye of the Tiger. After earning his first three victories in Mexico, he became a crowd favourite across Quebec, stringing together wins in Montreal, Quebec City, Shawinigan and Gatineau.
In 2024, Santana enjoyed the best year of his young career. After a win in March, he returned to the ring in June and delivered a memorable knockout against Guillermo Crocco. That October, against Sebastian Aguirre, he gave the Outaouais crowd an unforgettable fight, showcasing the heart and determination of a true warrior. Now with 13 wins, including six by stoppage, Luis Santana is undoubtedly a fighter to watch in 2025.
