Background & Amateur Career

Originally from the Témiscouata region, Leïla Beaudoin discovered boxing at the age of 18 and quickly made a name for herself in the amateur ranks over the next five years. She began competing at 64 kg, finishing second at the Canadian Championships in 2018 before deciding to move down a weight class. The change paid off immediately, as she went on to become Canadian champion at 60 kg. Along with her national title and success at the Golden Gloves, the Bas-Saint-Laurent native also gained international experience, competing in Tunisia and Poland.

Became interim WBA super-featherweight world champion by defeating Colombian contender Paulina Angel by unanimous decision at Théâtre Capitole in Quebec City.

2025

Became the first Quebec woman in history to complete a 12-round, three-minute-per-round fight by challenging unified world champion Alycia Baumgardner in front of nearly 15 million viewers on Netflix.

2024

Became WBO International super-featherweight champion by dominating Bolivian contender Lizbeth Crespo at the Centre Vidéotron in Quebec City.

Professional Debut & Rise

With an impressive 28–6 amateur record, Beaudoin turned professional in October 2019 with Montreal-based promoter Eye of the Tiger. After winning 10 of her first 11 bouts, she avenged her only defeat against Elizabeth Espinoza in January 2024. That August, she capped off the best year of her career by becoming the WBO International super featherweight champion.

Continuing to push her limits, Leïla Beaudoin took the next step in June 2025 by stopping former world champion Elhem Mekhaled in the sixth round. This victory not only allowed her to defend her WBO International Super Featherweight Championship for the first time, but also propelled her to the #1 spot in the world rankings of the prestigious Ring Magazine. As her accomplishments spread around the globe and her popularity continued to grow, she earned the opportunity to compete for an undisputed world championship against American Alycia Baumgardner in December 2025. In a display of heart and courage, she became the first Quebec boxer to complete a 12-round bout of three-minute rounds, all while winning several championship rounds. Even more, nearly 15 million viewers, in addition to the thousands in attendance in Miami, watched her fight on Netflix. Determined to accomplish more, Leïla Beaudoin returned stronger in April against former world champion Victoria Bustos. This victory earned her a second opportunity at a world championship.
