Hailing from Havana, Cuba, Osleys Iglesias began boxing at the age of 7, inspired by his compatriot, Roniel Iglesias. It wasn’t long before he carved his own path, joining the prestigious Cuban national team at just 15 years old.
Over the years, Iglesias built an extraordinary amateur record, claiming victory in 184 of his 200 fights. Along the way, he defeated elite opponents like Arlen Lopez, Gleb Bakshi, and David Morrell Jr. In 2019, following a triumphant run at the Cologne World Cup, Iglesias made the life-altering decision to defect from the Cuban team while in Germany. On that day, he called his mother and made a heartfelt promise: the next time they met, he would be the unified super middleweight champion of the world.
Teaming up with renowned German coach Georg Bramowski, Iglesias wasted no time in pursuing his dream. By his fifth fight, he showcased his dominance by defeating former world title challenger Isaac Chilemba in a 12-round masterclass. He followed this by dismantling Beijing Olympian Ezequiel Maderna in the first round and claimed the IBO world title in his seventh fight with a 10th-round stoppage of Andrii Velikovskyi. Iglesias defended his title in October 2023, handing Artur Reis his first professional defeat.
Seeking greater opportunities, Iglesias partnered with Eye of the Tiger to elevate his career further. His North American debut in March 2023 was explosive, as he knocked out Marcelo Coceres in the first round. In June, he delivered a potential Knockout of the Year performance, flattening Evgeny Shvedenko in another first-round spectacle. Just two months later, he stopped former world title challenger Sena Agbeko in under two rounds—a quicker finish than Morrell Jr. had managed against the Ghanaian. He capped off a dominant 2024 by defeating undefeated contender Petro Ivanov with a fifth-round knockout.
With a pristine record of 13-0, including 12 knockouts—six of them in the first round—El Tornado is tearing through the super middleweight division. As Iglesias continues his devastating rise, his relentless pursuit of greatness and his promise to his mother remain at the core of his journey. All signs point to a future where the Cuban powerhouse claims every title in sight.
