Imam Khataev

With 15 years of experience in boxing and numerous appearances at international tournaments, Imam Khataev has amassed nearly 300 amateur fights since his debut in 2008. While representing the Russian national team, he achieved the status of vice-champion for three consecutive years, namely 2015, 2017, and 2018. Subsequently, he was crowned the champion of Russia for two consecutive years (2019 and 2020) in the light heavyweight division, his preferred weight class.

Following all his successes and years of training efforts, Khataev continued on his path and qualified to become a member of the Olympic team in preparation for Tokyo 2020, where he won the bronze medal. The Chechen-born boxer also made a significant mark in January 2023 when he secured the gold medal at the Golden Belt Series tournament, facing off against the double Olympian from Cuba and amateur world champion, Arlen Lopez Cardona. Later in May, he participated in the Amateur World Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where he finished 3rd.

Already having accumulated 3 knockout victories in the professional circuit since his debut in November 2021, Khataev currently resides in Australia. Nevertheless, a Montreal-based promoter intends to bring him to North American boxing events, confident that the athlete’s style will captivate boxing enthusiasts. His power, combined with his highly aggressive style, gives him a clear advantage in the ring, and his performances reflect a formidable intensity. August 2023 marks a new phase in his professional career, one he intends to propel to new heights!
