In 2011, Erik Bazinyan and his family immigrated to Quebec from Armenia when he was just 16 years old. A former member of the Armenian Junior National Team, Bazinyan arrived in Canada determined to continue training and pursue the goal he set for himself from his very first steps in a boxing gym: to become a world champion.
Bazinyan’s amateur career was nothing short of phenomenal, amassing 108 wins in 109 fights. Remarkably, his only loss came in his very first bout—after which he never tasted defeat again. With his sights set on bigger challenges, Bazinyan turned professional in 2013 at the age of 18.
The transition to the professional ranks was seamless for the Armenian-born fighter, whose explosive and precise style was tailor-made for the pro circuit. Erik Bazinyan quickly built a reputation as a formidable contender, delivering highlight-reel knockouts and thrilling victories. Wins over Aro Schwartz and David Zegarra earned him the WBO Junior and NABO Super Middleweight titles, both of which he defended in standout performances against Francy Ntetu and Adrian Luna Flores.
As he continued his rise, Bazinyan added the NABA and NABF super middleweight titles to his collection, solidifying his position in the world rankings. Along the way, he decisively defeated former world title challengers Marcelo Coceres and Alantez Fox and stopped the durable Ronald Ellis.
The summer of 2024 marked a pivotal moment in Bazinyan’s career when he engaged in a grueling war against former world champion and Mexican sensation Jaime Munguia. Though the fight was fiercely competitive, Bazinyan demonstrated his ability to stand toe-to-toe with the elite, earning respect and recognition across major American networks.
Now based in Laval, Quebec, and trained by Marc Ramsay, Erik Bazinyan has cemented his place as one of the top super middleweights in the world with 32 wins in 34 fights.
