Combat sports entered Erik Israyelyan’s life at an early age. As an energetic child looking for an outlet, he first discovered kickboxing at age five before fully committing to boxing at 10, with the dream of one day competing at the Olympic Games. Without ever needing to reach the Olympics, however, the pride of Yerevan, Armenia, went on to win some of amateur boxing’s most prestigious competitions. In April 2022, he captured the European Junior Championship at 60 kg in Bulgaria. That November, in Spain, came the crowning moment: less than a month after his 16th birthday, Erik Israyelyan became Junior World Champion.
Made a successful professional debut with EOTTM by knocking out Richard Bernath in the first round.
Won the junior world championship.
Won the European Junior Amateur Championship.
Proud of an already impressive amateur record of 113 victories in 118 bouts, and inspired by his childhood idols Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr., the Armenian fighter left the Olympic dream behind in order to shine in the professional ranks sooner rather than later. Having already closely followed his accomplishments, aggressive style, and therefore his immense potential, Eye of the Tiger Director of Development Marc Ramsay almost immediately offered the athlete a contract.
It was therefore at just 20 years old that the Armenian fighter moved to Montreal to pursue his dream. With four victories in four bouts during his rookie year of 2025, and with a potential described as “immense” by his trainer Samuel Décarie-Drolet, there is no doubt that the name Erik Israyelyan will be one to remember in the years to come.
