Background & Amateur Career

Originally from Belarus, Dzmitry Asanau started boxing to follow in his father's footsteps, but quickly made a name for himself in the world of the "sweet science." As an amateur, he racked up over 200 victories, including several against world-class boxers such as Andy Cruz, Hector Luis Garcia, and Murodjon Akhmadaliev. These victories paved the way for him to compete in—and often win—some of the most prestigious competitions in the world. His amateur highlights include three gold medals at the European Championships, both a silver and a gold medal at the European Games, and a bronze medal at the World Championships. He also represented his country at two Olympic Games: Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

The partnership quickly paid off. Training in Montreal under Samuel Décarie-Drolet, Dzmitry Asanau captured his first title in just his second fight with EOTTM, on November 7, 2024. To claim the WBC Continental Americas lightweight title, the EOTTM newcomer stopped hard-hitting Argentine Matias Rueda (38–3, 32 KOs) in the fifth round—a performance that earned him Fight of the Night honors.
